People & Vehicles

Your people and your fleet are among your biggest assets, and your biggest exposures.

Workers' Compensation

When an employee is hurt on the job, workers’ compensation determines how quickly they recover and how protected your business is. In Texas, it’s also one of the most misunderstood coverages there is.

What it covers

Workers’ comp pays for medical care and lost wages when an employee is injured or becomes ill on the job, and shields your business from most related lawsuits. It covers treatment, rehabilitation, and disability benefits.

Who needs it

Texas is unusual, it doesn’t mandate workers’ comp for most private employers. But going without it strips away critical legal protections and is often required by clients, contracts, and lenders before they’ll work with you.

A common misconception

Because Texas makes it optional, owners assume skipping it saves money. Opting out exposes the business to injury lawsuits with no damage caps, a far larger risk than the premium.

Commercial Auto

If your business owns vehicles, or your employees drive for work, a personal auto policy won’t protect you when something goes wrong on the road.

What it covers

Commercial auto covers liability, physical damage, and medical costs from accidents involving vehicles used for business. It extends to owned, leased, and in many cases employee-owned vehicles driven on company time.

Who needs it

Contractors, delivery and service businesses, and any company with a fleet, but also firms whose employees run errands, make deliveries, or drive to job sites in personal vehicles.

A common misconception

Owners assume a personal auto policy covers business use. Most personal policies exclude it, leaving a serious gap exactly when a business-use accident occurs.
